hej!
our Bohuskulla-kviga (400 kg) will give birth to her first calf somewhere next week, we calculated.
now she gets around 8 kg of good, sun dried hay per day, divided over three moments: morning, noon and evening.
in the morning and in the evening we also give her 'havrekross' and 'kornkross', three hands of each.
but what when she gives birth?
we hope we can keep staying away from commercial concentrates and/or mixtures of unknown origin. from next season onwards, we wish to establish a closed cycle on the farm.
meanwhile we want our cow to give good and enough milk. and she shouldn't dry up early.
then what should we change in her food/feeding pattern?
how do others handle this?
