Hi, my name is Antonin, am living in Uppsala. I was wondering if anyone had any swarm of bees or a beehive to give away in the area ?

Than in advance

Cheers

I'm curious: why do you want to get bees for free?

I Sverige är inte bin gratis 2016. Bönder i det närmaste skriker efter pollinatörer, liksom honungskunderna är väldigt köpsugna. Priset lär fortsätta stiga...

hih, a fundamental question indeed, why would anyone want to get something for free :)
always wondered why people get excited from a free lunch, for example

The question regarding free bees is not so strange.
Now and then nice men in my "bee-club" gives away bees and queens.
It has been difficult to buy bees some years so there have been beginners
in great need of help.
Also, if you give away a "skaksvärm" after the main period of nektar flow in
your area it is not a big economical sarcrifise.
If the receiver feed the bees and preferably add an egglaying Queen it will be a good chance for a heeve that survives the Winter.
Members that breed Queens and have one or two leftovers has brought them to
the meetings and they have been sold for 10 kr or given away.
Besides that they are generous people, it is not really worth the trouble to advertise
and arrange for selling one or two Queens to the market price.
Beginners that helped the "bitillsyningsmän" with collecting a swarm has been
allowed to keep the bees.
So my advice is that you join the nearest "bee-club" and then also learn how to take care of your bees. I don't think you will be able to order free bees or queens but stay around and be prepared to do something in return you might get your bees.
(excuse my swenglish)
