Titel: Live in a yurt in Sweden
Skrivet av: Adrien skrivet 30 sep-12 kl 14:28
Hello everybody,
I am from France but living in Canada. I will live in Sweden next month, maybe near Gavle, my future job will be in Soderhamn.
I would like to live in a yurt, first I would like to know if it's legal in Sweden. And  if it is!, do you know any company who built yurts in Sweden.
I am sorry but I don't speak any Swedish yet (so I will use google translate a lot to write this message), I would like to learn.
Thank you a lot for your help
Adrien

It's legal if it can be considered not to be a permanent building, and assuing that you own the ground, or have permission from the the owner of the ground.

It should fall under the term `friggebod`if you put it up on a property with a mainbuilding that dont have any `friggebod` previously. That is a building not larger than 15sq meters so the yurt has to be under that and the mainbuilding has to be more than 30sq meters.  I know of several people who has been living in yurts for years in Sweden :)

I have to ask. Why do you want to live in a yurt?

Hello Adrien. Yes its leagal, either if its a permanent building or not. In sweden there is no law about in what house You can live, You can even live in a small doghouse or a campervagon or anything. I know this bcz I just bought a empty land and built just at very small cabin and I have the adress there for my whole family and its perfectly ok. I allso asked the othorities here in sweden if there is any rules about Your house to live in but they told me there is no rules in sweden. In norway there is rules, you cant live in just anything,, but in sweden its ok. Im planning to build a yourt myself now. But You will need a building permit for a Yurt.  You can allso live in a canvastent, then You dont need a permit.  Good Luck.  /Noa
